Abstract

Abstract

College students enter the stage of early adult development with an age range of 18 to 25 years where in this development relationships with family members, one of which is siblings, have a very important influence. In a relationship with siblings, of course, there is such a thing as a quarrel. Quarrels that occur between siblings to get parental attention are called sibling rivalry. This study provides an overview of how sibling rivalry occurs in students. Participants in this study amounted to 52 people. This research design is qualitative by disseminating surveys using open ended quistionnaire. The data is analyzed using thematic analysis to find themes from the data that has been collected. The results showed that 49 participants interpreted relationships with siblings positively, and all participants admitted to having quarreled with siblings. Findings from research show that there is a greater influence of external factors on the occurrence of sibling rivalry, and the form of behavior that often occurs is in the form of psychic behavior..
